Captiva Fishing Guide Report: September 2: Tripletail!! <\/strong>Captain Joe\u2019s Charters \u2013 a lot of good fish have moved into the gulf, bay, and passes; \u2013 tarpon, redfish, snapper, snook, and seatrout are currently present.<\/p>\n

Redfish & snook are regulated as catch & release at this time.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Big redfish and snook around, more big redfish than snook.<\/p>\n

Red tide has some trace presence and always a worry, but not a factor right now.\u00a0 The Caloosahatchee freshwater releases are also not an issue right now, but still a huge long-term problem.<\/p>\n

Extremely frustrating.\u00a0 We need wholesale changes in the Florida state government.\u00a0 It is not a Republican or Democrat issue \u2013 it is a Big Sugar control everyone issue.\u00a0 It is stunning how we continue to let the sugar industry and the agriculture north of Lake Okeechobee to damage the water and all of Florida.<\/p>\n

It is also known by fishermen by names like\u00a0flasher<\/b>\u00a0or\u00a0steamboat<\/b>.[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Young fishes float on their sides, often beside flotsam, and appear like a dry leaf.[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0In Indonesia, the local name is called KakapHitam\/Laut or similar as Black Barramundi which is commonly consumed by its similar appearance as Lates calcifiers-Barramundi.<\/p>\n

Tripletails are well known for their unusual behavior of floating just beneath the surface with one side exposed, mimicking a leaf or floating debris.
