Many seasonal manatee protection zones went\u00a0into effect as of November 15 and continue though March 31.<\/p>\n<p>Adult manatees weigh about 1,000 pounds but\u00a0can be difficult to see, especially when just below the water\u2019s surface. The fishing is also renowned with sharks in the summer, tailing redfish on the bayside flats and snook under and off the Blind Pass bridge.
